Mynydd Mawr & Braich y Pwll — the End of the Llŷn

1.5–4 miles · 1–3 hours · Moderate · Park: Top car park, Uwchmynydd

The westernmost point of North Wales — the Llŷn’s Land’s End, without the theme park. From the top car park (itself a stunning accessible viewpoint) paths loop around the old coastguard lookout and down towards Braich y Pwll, with Bardsey Island filling the sea ahead across the racing tides of the Sound. Below the headland lie the traces of St Mary’s Well and the pilgrims’ embarkation point. Sunset here is the best on the peninsula — pair it with our Dark Skies guide and stay for the stars.

Need to know: fully exposed — no shelter, rapid weather changes, steep unfenced cliffs; keep dogs on leads and children close. Choose a calm, clear day (check live conditions). No facilities — nearest cafés in Aberdaron. The top car park viewpoint is accessible without walking.
