1. Register
All Welsh providers — cottages, B&Bs, caravans, campsites — must register with the WRA from 1 October 2026, levy or no levy. There are penalties for not registering. Registration itself is free; we send you step-by-step instructions and reminders so it never slips.

Common questions
Does the visitor levy apply in Gwynedd yet?
Not yet. Cyngor Gwynedd’s decision is expected on 24 September 2026, and if adopted there is at least 12 months’ notice before it starts. But WRA registration applies to the whole of Wales from 1 October 2026 regardless — that part is not optional.
Won’t Airbnb handle this for me?
No. Legal responsibility for registering, keeping records and paying the levy sits with you, the provider — Welsh Government guidance is explicit that you cannot rely on a third party. Platforms may help collect money from guests, but they don’t file your return, track your direct bookings, or keep your six-year records.
How much is the levy?
£1.30 per person per night for cottages, B&Bs, hotels and caravans; 75p per person per night for campsite pitches and shared rooms, where under-18s are exempt. Rates are set nationally and only apply where a council adopts the levy.
Is my WiFi password safe on a web page?
Yes — your public listing shows no private information at all. Do you store my guests’ personal details?
